Darwin


Darwin is the largest city in the Northern Territory but it is the smallest and most northerly of the Australia capital cities .Only about 136,000 people live in Darwin. Darwin lies in the Northern Territory on the Timor Sea.

 

 

The Aboriginal people of the Larrikin language group are the traditional custodians and the first inhabitants of the greater Darwin area.

                                                       
The Northern Territory was transferred to Federal administration in 1911 and Darwin became the city’s official name.

Darwin has a tropical savanna climate with distinct wet and dry seasons and the average maximum temperature is remarkably similar all year round.

 There are a lot of festivals, museum arts gallery and parks. The city has many kilometres of wide unpolluted beaches including the Casuarinas Beaches and well renowned Mendel Beach

Tourist activities-Charles Darwin National Park is close to the city and free to visit .a visit to any of the local Darwin Markets is also free .There is beautiful tropical bush rock pools the closest to Darwin are at Berry Springs.
